About Mario Fava Restaurant Group

Mario Fava, the son of an Italian immigrant who taught him to “put in 110 percent or not to do it at all,” first learned of the passion needed to make it in a competitive industry by witnessing his father waiting tables.

He then applied his father’s ethic at the age of 15 by clearing tables and doing the dishes. His only departure from the world he loved involved a two-year stint in professional soccer after college.

Some years passed and in a return to the restaurant business in 1994, Mario opened Lusardi’s in Larchmont with his father. The restaurant immediately built an incredible following for its magnificent Italian cuisine and refined service in a sophisticated, elegant atmosphere. After a few years, Lusardi’s was followed by Moscato, in Scarsdale NY.

Moscato’s brilliant Mediterranean cuisine made the restaurant a gem of Scarsdale and Westchester.

In the summer of 2004, Mario opened a third restaurant- Chat 19 in Larchmont. Chat 19 is very different from Lusardi’s and Moscato, It serves American Grill fare in a SoHo-like atmosphere. Chat 19 became an instant favorite on Westchester’s restaurant scene and a wonderful compliment to its sister restaurants.

The new Chat marks Mario Fava’s fourth restaurant in Westchester… and, without a doubt, the biggest and most anticipated! Chat is exactly what Scarsdale has been waiting for-a fun, lively restaurant with great food and an upbeat, vibrant bar- right in the Village’s Downtown area. Chat is a large 4,000 sq. foot restaurant with separate dining areas, a full bar and lounge area, and a great outdoor terrace.

In Mario’s own words “I think we provide a special service and quality food, we have great customers who are very loyal to us and that keep coming back. We are hands on, any given night or day I’m in all of the restaurants.” Mario can be spotted any day of the week making the rounds at any of his four very successful restaurants.
